A Vision for Healing and Empowerment

Building a Future Through Indigenous Knowledge

By sharing my personal journey through intergenerational and developmental trauma, I have come to realize that many people in our communities do not fully understand the depth of the atrocities faced by Indigenous peoples—both historically and in the present. My vision is to reach as many people as possible, fostering a greater understanding of our history and the ongoing struggles that continue to impact our brothers and sisters of Turtle Island.

How can we move forward if we do not fully understand where we come from? Too many Indigenous people remain disconnected, struggling, and unheard. Through storytelling and education, I hope to inspire awareness, healing, and tangible change. The shift we need is a move away from punitive systems and separation, and toward culturally holistic support, where healing and community take precedence over punishment. Instead of building more jails, we must build inclusive, community-centered spaces that offer belonging, connection, and support for those who are homeless, institutionalized, and isolated. My vision is a future where Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and healing practices lead the way in rebuilding strong, resilient communities rooted in understanding, respect, and cultural identity.

Core Principles

At the heart of Louise Snowdon’s work is a commitment to healing, education, and empowerment through Indigenous knowledge and traditions. Guided by lived experience and cultural teachings, her approach is rooted in respect, holistic healing, and accessibility. By creating safe and inclusive spaces, Louise ensures that individuals, families, and communities can reconnect with themselves, their history, and the land in meaningful ways.

Respect for Indigenous Knowledge

Indigenous knowledge is built upon generations of wisdom, storytelling, and lived experience. Louise honors and upholds these teachings by integrating traditional practices into her counselling and workshops, ensuring that healing is deeply connected to cultural identity, history, and the strength of Indigenous peoples.

Holistic Healing Approaches

True healing involves the mind, body, and spirit—which is why Louise incorporates a variety of traditional and land-based healing techniques into her work. In addition to counselling, she offers:

• Indigenous Herbal Medicines

• Traditional Crafting

Accessibility for All

Healing should be available to everyone, regardless of financial situation or background. Louise is committed to making mental health support accessible to individuals, families, and communities in need. By offering flexible and culturally relevant services, she ensures that those seeking support can find a safe, welcoming space to heal, learn, and grow. Her goal is to remove barriers to healing, fostering stronger, healthier communities across British Columbia.
