Culturally Sensitive Counselling in BC
About Louise Snowdon

Taking the First Step Toward
Healing
Taking the first step toward healing is not always easy, and navigating life’s challenges can feel overwhelming. If you are seeking support, Louise Snowdon, an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, offers a compassionate and culturally grounded approach to healing. She creates a safe and welcoming space where individuals can explore personal growth, emotional regulation, and deeper self-awareness.

Recognizing that healing is unique for everyone, Louise incorporates a diverse range of Indigenous and holistic practices to support transformation. Her approach includes:
Somatic Healing & Emotional Regulation
Guiding individuals to transition from survival states (fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and fit-in) to a state of emotional balance and resilience.
Storytelling &
Education
Teaching the truth of Indigenous history through storytelling, helping individuals and communities understand the intergenerational impacts of colonization.
Land-Based Healing
Engaging with nature through spirit and river cleanses, foraging for Indigenous plant medicine, and smudging rituals.
Indigenous Arts & Crafts
Creating dream catchers, medicinal beads, and devil’s club salves, blending creativity with cultural teachings.
Drumming & Singing
Using traditional song and rhythm to restore balance and connection with cultural sensitivity.
Passion For Healing
Louise’s passion for healing is deeply personal. Having grown up experiencing family violence, oppression, shame, racism, and cultural loss, she understands the profound impact of trauma. Through years of intensive healing work, she has transformed her own pain into wisdom, strength, and joy, embracing life with renewed purpose. She believes in the philosophy of being a “healed healer” rather than an unhealed one, ensuring that her own journey of self-discovery informs the care and guidance she provides to others.
With over 22 years of experience in Indigenous and non-Indigenous counselling agencies, Louise established her private counselling practice three years ago, where she continues to help individuals, couples, and communities heal and grow. Her lived experience, combined with her extensive knowledge, makes her an invaluable guide for those seeking deeper healing, self-awareness, and cultural connection.
